Machinists at Inland Kenworth Penticton have accepted a three year agreement. Increases of 2% in each year are combined with new hourly premiums for certifications mechanics hold:

Motor Vehicle Inspection Ticket  $0.75
Class 1 or 3 Drivers License  $0.50
Cummings Engine   $0.25
Caterpillar Engine     $0.25
Eaton Transmission  $0.25
Paccar MX Engine    $0.25

“The biggest fight was to make overtime voluntary”says Shop Steward Don Stocker. “It took some time but the Company finally agreed to give reasonably notice for any overtime.
The members were rock solid and stuck together to get concessions and important language reworded, as they took a  0 %  increase in the middle of the last contract at the request of there employer”, he continued.

It was agreed Pension options would be settled by a majority vote of the members early next year. The choice is between the Machinists Pension Plan and the existing SEI RRSP fund. Improvements to out of shop premium, tool allowance and boot allowance round out the agreement.
