Day of Mourning 2012 – Lake Cowichan, BC

 
The Nanaimo Duncan and District Labour Council held the first of three events for the Day of Mourning, April 28, 2012, in Lake Cowichan at the Forest Workers’ Memorial Park.

Dave Ritchie Conducts Press Conference Regarding Air Canada Strike

The Federal Government has intervened in the dispute since march 7 but here Canadian General Vice President Dave Ritchie lays out why a job action was deemed necessary.

Day of Mourning Memorial Held In Victoria

The Day of Mourning commemorates workers killed, injuried of suffering illness as a result of their employment. The Canadian Labour Congress started the Day of Mourning on April 28, 1984. The Federal government officially proclaimed the day starting in 1991. Today 27 countries mark this day. There are now over 45 permanent workers’ memorials in BC.
