IAMAW members at the KAL Tire Repair Plant in Sparwood have received wage increases which reflect the value of their skill and work.
At the plant, large industrial tires are repaired. These giant tires cost $100,000 each and, with repairs, they can last 20% longer. Our Members cut out the damage, put in reinforcing panels of kevlar and then use the vulcanizing processes to repair the tire.
The new wages include a wage adjustment of $1 in each of the first and second years plus 2%, 2% and 3% over the three year agreement.
